While many Northeastern states are ignored by many people attributing to their proximity to different country, one of the state has made it through the list and has made India proud. The NE state of Sikkim in India back in 2018 presented a model to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for Future Policy Gold Award where it provided the model to be the first Indian state to be an organic state.

And it has won the award where it has become one of the world’s first 100% organic state. In FAO website, they state “In 2003, Sikkim stopped imports of chemical fertilizers in the State and since then the cultivatable land there is practically organic and farmers of Sikkim are traditional users of organic manure.
